The Rhinestone Cowgirls are a group of women who love our horses and enjoy the challenge and excitement of Equestrian Precision Drill. Founded in 1987 and based out of Western Washington County, our membership is between 10 and 16 riding members each year and we range in age from 18 to over 60. RC is not a breed-specific team, so our horses vary from registered purebreds to "mutts". However, horses and riders alike share a common passion for Drill.
The Rhinestone Cowgirls write and execute our own drills. Our team competes in at least four local and regional Equestrian Drill events each year, as well as the Oregon State Fair. We are members of PNWDTA, OWDTA and WLRCA. We also ride in local parades and equestrian demonstrations. Applicants are selected for our team based on their equitation skills, overall ability or potential ability to ride drill and willingness to commit to the team. We also evaluate the skills and abilities of the applicant's horse.
Our members enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship of being part of a united team working towards a common goal. For the Rhinestone Cowgirls, that goal is to be the best in our sport. To achieve it, we are continually working to improve our horsemanship and team presentation.
